"SS7" stretched horizontally to simulate anamorphic widescreen TV display (Lanczos resize).
Despite the extra vertical resolution, the degree of detail is no better than the original full-screen render, "SS5". The game simply upscales (vertically) the full-screen frames (RE4 source frames are 336px high) to fit widescreen displays, rather than rendering the frames to take advantage of the resolution afforded by standard definition full-screen format (480px high). Therefore, we are NOT seeing the proper degree of detail we're supposed to see at widescreen 480p. |
